ZARBO, Supreme Café of the year 2008 in New Zealand’s Café awards

Zarbo is an iconic Café & Delicatessen establishment which opened its doors in Newmarket in 1995. Over the years Zarbo built itself into a well-know, iconic brand that is recognized not only New Zealand wide, but also internationally. Zarbo is now owned by Mark McDonough who started with Zarbo as a chef. Mark is well-known not only because of his delicious creations of food and the variety of food at Zarbo, but also for his own created extensive range of Zarbo dressings and sauces. Sauces are not only distributed New Zealand wide, but that are also being sent worldwide. Zarbo also imports many overseas exclusive, scrumptious products and Mark is constantly looking for new products to import. Mark also successfully published 3 cookbooks to compliment the use of his sauces, dressings and imported products.

Next to the delicatessen which stocks one of the widest ranges of gourmet produce in New Zealand, featuring premium quality products from Europe and New Zealand, we have the cafe. The café is an extremely popular destination for all age groups and very busy, but in a relaxing, casual surrounding with a seating capacity of 144, offering a full a la carte breakfast and lunch menus, as well as an extensive range of cabinet food. Our kitchen produces all our food for our café, and our deli cabinet, as well as the food for our extensive outside catering menu that gets changed a few times a year to keep customers interested.

The Zarbo Brand

Due to the winning brand, Zarbo has been approached several times for franchising, but never pursuit it. In 2008 Zarbo was approached to take on a joint venture in Parnell, now called Zarbo Everyday. Zarbo Everyday is a different concept to our flagship store, aimed at the takeaway market. It offers breakfast pastries, takeaway lunches, coffee and cake, or even something to take home for dinner. Zarbo Everyday also operates a Bun Run to local businesses, taking our delicious food straight to people in the places of work.

Even so the franchising concept is new to Zarbo, the support with extensive knowledge and expertise at hand is tailored to the franchisees requirements or needs.
